The Wornick Company has over 30 years of experience in the manufacture and
assembling of individual operational rations. An individual ration
typically includes a wide variety of shelf stable components such as a main
food entrée, side dish, snacks and an accessory packet (matches, toilet paper,
gum, etc.). These components are packaged to last up to three years at
80°F and provide soldiers with up to 1,400 calories per meal. Varieties of
individual rations include the MRE (Meals, Ready-to-Eat), Tailored Operational
Training Meal (TOTM), Humanitarian Daily Ration (HDR), Meal for Cold
Weather/Long Range Patrol (MCW/LRP), and other individual type rations
currently in development by the U.S. Army Natick
Soldier Center and the Army Center of Excellence Service (ACES). These
individual rations are exclusively designed for training, combat operations,
humanitarian relief, and where severe cold weather conditions apply.
