(Unitized Group Ration-A)
The Unitized Group Ration-A is designed as a self-contained menu with all the
components necessary to prepare and serve a hot, restaurant quality meal to a
group of 50 persons in the field. UGR-A includes shelf stable and frozen food
components. The objective of the UGR-A is to decrease inventory-carrying costs
and simplify the ordering, distribution, and logistical process, as well as
provide the soldiers with top-quality, easy to prepare commercial food. The
Wornick Company offers a variety of meal plans consisting of seven breakfast
and 14 dinner meals to choose from. Food, condiments, preparation instructions,
and serving utensils are packed into three cartons (two containing the
non-perishable and shelf-stable foods and one containing the frozen food
items).
